Strictly by the numbers, you can see the exponential growth of the program:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Nearly <strong>13,000<\/strong> veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses attended <strong>60<\/strong> hiring events.<\/li><li>The Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program saw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/fellowships\/corporatefellows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>25%<\/strong> more fellows<\/a> graduate than the previous year.<\/li><li><strong>Twelve<\/strong> new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/mseez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Military Spouse Economic Empowerment Zones<\/a> were launched at cities and states throughout the country.<\/li><li>Hiring Our Heroes hosted its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/episode-138-100-career-summits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>100<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong> Career Summit<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/military-spouse-employment-summit-2019-recap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>3rd <\/strong>annual Military Spouse Employment Summit<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/2019-awards-gala\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>9<sup>th<\/sup> <\/strong>annual Lee Anderson Awards Gala<\/a>.<\/li><li>Hiring Our Heroes celebrated <strong>75 years<\/strong> of the GI Bill.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Eversole-Talks-2019-Highlights.jpg\" alt=\"Eric Eversole discusses how Hiring Our Heroes is expanding its events to meet the changing needs of today\u2019s transitioning service members, and why training will be a key component of HOH\u2019s 2020 programming.\" class=\"wp-image-3800\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On this episode of the <a href=\"https:\/\/hiringourheroes.podbean.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hiring Our Heroes Sitrep podcast<\/a>, Eric Eversole talks about this year\u2019s accomplishments and how this U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation program will strive to do even more in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eversole is a vice president at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and president of&nbsp;Hiring Our Heroes. As the leader of Hiring Our Heroes, Eversole strategically engages the program\u2019s private- and public-sector partners to connect businesses with the talented men and women transitioning out of the military, as well as with their spouses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eversole\u2019s commitment to the military and the men and women who serve spans nearly two decades. He first entered military service in 1994 as an enlisted security specialist in the Indiana Air National Guard. Eversole later accepted a commission in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps in 1998. He served on active duty until 2001 when he transferred to the Navy Reserve. Transition Summits became <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/career-summits-are-for-the-entire-military-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Career Summits<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/fellowships\/spousefellows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Military Spouse Corporate Fellowship Program<\/a> was launched at seven locations throughout the country and many transitioning service members were fellows at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/fellowships\/cfp-locations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">remote locations<\/a> \u2013 cities not located near military bases.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhile some people are afraid of change, we really celebrate the fact that we are able to adapt and modify programs to provide the maximum impact at HOH.\u201d \u2013 Eric Eversole, president of Hiring Our Heroes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Hiring Our Heroes is determined to remain relevant in the military talent employment space.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are in a constant state of thinking about how we can most impact our constituents, both our service members and family members, in finding employment opportunities.\u201d \u2013 Eric Eversole, president of Hiring Our Heroes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. In 2019, partners LinkedIn, Indeed, and Prudential led portions of the Career Summits professional development training. This kind of immediately applicable training will be standardized and expanded in 2020.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCareer Summits are as much training events as they are hiring events now. There is a lot that goes into finding a job beyond just making a connection. We want to be able to provide service members with a range of tools and resources so that they can put their best foot forward.\u201d \u2013 Eric Eversole, president of Hiring Our Heroes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. The Military Spouse Fellowship Program, launched in 2019, will make an impact in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/military-spouse-fellowship-program-launch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">military spouse employment<\/a> in 2020.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe internship allows military spouses to go in and showcase his or her skills and ultimately, makes the resume not matter. Hiring Our Heroes wants to do more than help people find jobs.
