During his military career, Ward worked as a mechanic, instructor and career counselor before becoming medically retired in 2010. After six years of undergoing medical treatment, Ward began to seek a new career. Utilizing the Department of Veterans Affairs&#8217; Vocational Rehabilitation Program, Ward earned his Commercial Driver\u2019s License and joined Werner Enterprises.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Last December, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/2018-transition-trucking-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ward was named the 2018 Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence award winner<\/a> and presented with keys to a fully-loaded Kenworth T680 truck and the opportunity to be an owner-operator. Time management plays a big part when we talk about driving trucks. You are given a place to pick up a load and a place to deliver the load, but getting from point A to point B is up to the driver.
