The 12-week fellowship provides veterans with professional training and hands-on experience in the civilian workforce while they are still on active duty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/career-services\/fellowships\/internships\/cfp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Corporate fellowships<\/a> aim for a smooth transition from the battlefield to the boardroom for veterans like Damien Guss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/warrent-officer-graduation.jpg\" alt=\"two Marines\" class=\"wp-image-6640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/warrent-officer-graduation.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/warrent-officer-graduation-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/warrent-officer-graduation-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Guss began to prepare for his retirement from the U.S. Marine Corps after 21 years, he turned to Hiring Our Heroes. He saw how the corporate fellowship helped a friend \u201claunch into the civilian sector,\u201d and he wanted a similar outcome for his transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI choose to participate in a corporate fellowship due to the opportunities it brings to a service member exiting the military,\u201d Guss said. \u201cHiring Our Heroes was outstanding in getting my name and resume out there to the participating companies. I had over 30 interviews with more than 25 different companies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During one of these interviews, Guss first heard about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zebra.com\/us\/en\/about-zebra\/careers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zebra Technologies Corporation<\/a> and learned how he could work in the tech industry after the Marine Corps. Soon, he realized Zebra\u2019s goals matched his professional goals. More than a year later, he remains happily employed there. Also, Zebra Technologies Corporation promoted Guss to his current role as senior manager of systems engineering. As an authorized DoD SkillBridge provider, Hiring Our Heroes facilitates three corporate fellowship cohorts annually.
