Hiring Our Heroes offers career placement training for transitioning service members and military spouses interested in career fields which don\u2019t require a college degree.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The newly launched 12-week internships, referred to as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiringourheroes.org\/career-services\/fellowships\/internships\/skills-based-fellowships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">skills-based fellowships<\/a>, provide relevant workplace experience and technical training needed to launch successful careers in high-demand industries. Examples of high-demand industries include skilled trades, technology, administration, and finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fellowship roles may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>pharmacy technician<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cybersecurity specialist<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>insurance adjuster<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>territory manager<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>supply chain specialist<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>data analyst<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fellowship candidates are carefully matched with participating companies based on the candidate\u2019s skills and the preferences of both parties. Once matched with a host company, candidates undergo technical on-the-job training at their host company. Hiring Our Heroes reinforces the real-world experience with weekly professional development sessions, held in a virtual setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on the fellow\u2019s skill set and work experience, fellowships offer a competitive edge for military-connected job seekers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBy looking to skills learned as part of military service, we can open our doors to an even more diverse pool of candidates with practical abilities to drive innovation and help solve problems for our customers,\u201d said Nick Curry, Head of Emerging Talent Pipelines at Amazon Web Services.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Option for Veterans Without Degrees <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Skills-based fellowships are an <a href=\"https:\/\/skillbridge.osd.mil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DoD SkillBridge-authorized option<\/a> available to non-degreed transitioning service members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interested service members must meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be on active duty or transition leave<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be within 180 days of transition from military service at the time of the 12-week program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Obtain command support to participate in the program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPrioritizing military service and experience over traditional degrees offers a pathway for service members to build upon the skills acquired during military service,\u201d said Stefanie Watson, Senior Deputy Director of the Corporate Fellowship Program at Hiring Our Heroes. \u201cAfter completing the fellowship, they will have the tools and training to land full-time roles in highly competitive industries.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After completing the fellowship, they have the tools and training to land full-time roles in highly competitive industries.<\/p>\n<cite>Stefanie Watson, Hiring Our Heroes<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Military Spouses Without College Degrees Will Learn New Skills<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike active-duty service members, military spouses are not required to complete the program within specific timelines. Each month, military spouses may be matched with host companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similarly to service members, their fellowships last 12 weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interested military spouses must meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have at least one year of work experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reside within the United States<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be unemployed or anticipating an upcoming relocation which will cause an employment gap<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ready to Apply for a Skills-Based Fellowship<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Skills-based fellowships are open to active-duty service members, military spouses, National Guard members on active status, and military caregivers. A college degree is not a requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Skills-based fellowships are available nationwide in host cities around the country.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once Hiring Our Heroes receives your application, a member of our Career Connector team will contact you via email.
