It&#8217;s very humbling and I am honored to be here today to accept the keys of that pretty truck out there.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Transition Trucking campaign is a partnership involving Hiring Our Heroes, Kenworth, and FASTPORT.<\/p>\n<p>All recent veterans who successfully made the transition from the military to trucking were eligible to be nominated to win the truck, which is fully loaded with a stamped aluminum cab and sleeper. The T680 is known as the \u201cdriver\u2019s truck\u201d for its top notch amenities.<\/p>\n<p>Davidson served in the Navy and was a mechanic for the esteemed Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m ready to get the wheels rolling and make some money out there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Two other finalists won $10,000 as runners-up. They included Russell Hardy, an Army and Navy veteran and driver for Trimac, and Kevin Scott, an Army veteran who drives for TMC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy are so many veterans hired in the trucking industry? I assure you, it\u2019s not because of charity,\u201d said Shannon DiBari, chief operating officer of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. \u201cIt\u2019s because of the unique skills they bring to the workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The finalists came from a pool of nominees from the trucking industry, and a selection committee comprised of representatives from trucking companies, driver schools, and trade associations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrucking has a story to tell; who better to tell it than the military veterans in our industry?\u201d said ATA President Kevin Burch.<\/p>\n<p>The public also had a chance to vote online for their favorite finalist.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe couldn\u2019t be more honored to recognize the commitment you\u2019ve made not only to your country, but your industry,\u201d Hiring Our Heroes President Eric Eversole said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Navy veteran and former mechanic for the Blue Angels walked away with the keys to a<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":558,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[25,62],"tags":[58,66,72,55],"service_role":[],"class_list":["post-557","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-articles","category-honoring-their-service","tag-events","tag-military-transition","tag-transition-trucking","tag-veterans"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v28.1 (Yoast SEO v28.1) -
